Vagara / Jeera Rice - Cumin Seasoned Rice
This Vagara (cumin seasoned) rice, is a simple way to elevate a plate of plain Basmati rice, perfect with any curry you're serving.

Ingredients

(vegetable, canola work best)

Basmati Rice
Salt to taste

Water
Instructions
Soak rice for 30 minutes
In a pot add 4 tbsp oil
Heat the oil on medium heat, and add 1 teaspoon cumin
Add the soaked rice, and salt.
Add water, start with 2 cups, and add more as needed. The water should be about ¾ inch above the rice.
Turn the heat to high, and let the water come to a rolling boil.
Once water boils, turn the heat on the low, and cook covered for 20-30 mins.
Cook until the water is absorbed, and the rice is cooked.
Use a fork to fluff the rice.
Enjoy as a side with curry, or even plain yogurt
