This White Chicken Karahi is a creamy Pakistani karahi recipe made with tender, seasoned chicken in a creamy, spicy sauce for a simple curry that’s great any night of the week!
White Chicken Karahi
White Chicken Karahi is a creamy variation of the traditional Karahi Chicken, made with lots of tomatoes, ginger, garlic.
Karhai, or Kadhai, is an Indian wok, that is often used to stir-fry food, or deep-fry snacks and sweets.
Of course, for us home cooks, this recipe can be easily made in any heavy bottom pot, a wok, or even a cast-iron skillet!
This particular version of Karahi is a curry that is creamy, yet quite light. Most of the creaminess is from the yogurt, with just a bit of sour cream (or cream) added at the end to make bring the dish together.

Cooking Method
#1: Fry the chicken in ginger and garlic
Use either vegetable or any other oil with a high smoking point; start by adding the ginger and garlic, and cook them until it is just fragrant.
#2: Simmer with yogurt and turmeric
Next, add a little yogurt and turmeric to finish cooking the chicken. This makes the chicken tender juicy.
Just let the chicken cook fully in the sauce.
#3: Stir in cream and final seasonings
There’s not a whole lot of active time in this recipe. Once the chicken is fully cooked, add the sour cream (or cream). Add the cream, stir in black pepper, red chili flakes, and Kasuri Methi (dried fenugreek leaves).
Kasuri Methi is an excellent ingredient for cooking Pakistani or Indian foods. This herb is a great finishing seasoning, adding an earthy flavor to any curry!

This Karahi Gosht pairs well with warm chapati roti, homemade naan or zeera (cumin) rice.
