Gulab Jamun is a popular Indian/Pakistani dessert that melts in your mouth. Dough balls made with milk powder (jamuns) are fried and soaked in cardamom-spiced sugar syrup!

You will need:  Jamuns – Milk powder – Ricotta cheese –  Maida/all-purpose flour –  Ghee/Clarified butter –  Baking powder & Salt Sugar Syrup  – Sugar – Green Cardamom – Almonds sliced

In a large bowl, add milk powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix well.

Add ricotta cheese and ghee to make a soft dough.

Knead then cover the dough, and set it aside for about 10 minutes before moving to the next step.

Take a portion of the dough, flatten it in your palm, make a ball, and set it aside on a plate. Repeat with the remaining dough.

Add oil to a pot on low-medium heat. Once the oil is hot, drop the dough balls one at a time. Cook until browned on all sides evenly.

In a medium-sized pot, on low-medium heat, add sugar, water, and cracked green cardamom.

Sugar Syrup

Let the mixture cook on low to medium heat till sugar is dissolved and water starts to boil. Turn off the heat, cover, and set it aside to cool slightly.

Add sugar syrup to the Jamuns and let them soak for at least an hour

Gulab Jamun

Garnish with sliced almonds. Serve warm or cold.
