Ingredients & Notes
- Milk – we use regular 2% milk for this recipe. Follow the directions on your custard powder packaging.
- Sugar – You can adjust the amount of sugar you use based on your preference, especially if your canned fruit is in a sugar syrup.
- Custard powder – use used instant vanilla flavored custard powder for a simple custard-like mixture.
- Mixed fruit – We prefer using canned fruit for this recipe because it doesn’t release as much water. If using fresh fruit, we recommend mixing the fruit and custard right before serving. Avoid using any citrus fruit if using fresh fruit.
- Garnish – Sliced almonds and pistachios are the perfect crunchy garnish for this dessert.
How to make Easy Fruit Custard?
In a pot over low to medium heat, add 3 cups of milk and sugar.
While the milk is heating, in a separate bowl, add the custard powder and 1/4 cup of room-temperature milk.
Once the milk is boiled, lower the heat and pour the custard powder and milk mix slowly, constantly mixing.
Once fully dissolved, turn off the heat and let it come to room temperature. Refrigerate to chill.
Add chopped/diced fruit and the cooled custard in a bowl and lightly mix.
Garnish with sliced pistachios and sliced almonds to finish.
